The HydroDCS has different user levels.  Almost 100% of the functionality of the HydroDCS can be utilized by a someone who is not logged in.  Users who are not logged in can view reports and downloaded rating tables, as well as look at some of the high level details and status of the HydroDCS.

There are three different user roles.  The features that can be accessed by these users are displayed in the profile drop-down on the right side of the menu.  These features are only accessible if the corresponding user is logged in.  The different user roles are:

  • not logged in
    • Users who are not logged in are able to use the functionality of the HydroDCS, but not configure it.  For example, these users can see the reports that have been configured, but are not able to actually configure the reports.
  • operator
    • Operators have slightly more privileges than users who are not logged in.  They have the ability to configure reports, as well as update items that affect the reports, but there are features that affect the HydroDCS system that operators do not have access to.  Operators also can do anything a "not logged in" user can do.
  • controller
    • The controller has the ability to update items that affect the HydroDCS system itself, such as install firmware updates, setting the IP Address, etc.  There are also audit logs that can be viewed by controllers, as well as some other detailed troubleshooting functionality. Controllers also can do anything an operator can do.
